A class-action federal lawsuit filed against California University of Pennsylvania seeks tuition refunds for all students who had to finish the spring semester online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Student Ashleigh Coffman of Greensburg filed the suit, claiming Cal U hasn’t refunded any of the spring 2020 tuition for full-time students even though “online distance learning” was implemented March 30 due to the pandemic.

The suit states tuition costs between $3,858 and $7,523 for full-time students who carry 12 to 18 credit hours.

“The university’s failure to provide the services for which tuition was intended to cover since approximately March 30, 2020, is a breach of the contracts between the university and plaintiff and the members of the class, and is unjust,” the suit states.
