When Belle Vernon Area High School is in need of an artist for a creative project, Sydney Baciak is often called upon for masterful skills.
The BVA senior has taken art classes in each of her four years at BVA and has a number of projects on display around the high school.
That includes her latest project, a mural representing all that the BVA Class of 2020 has experienced during its unpredictable senior year.
The mural, which was delivered to the high school Monday and now hangs near the staircase leading to the gym locker rooms, accompanies the handprints and signatures of members of this year’s senior class.
“They’ve been doing (the handprints) for awhile but this is the first time there has ever been a mural to go with it,” Sydney said. “Usually they just write ‘BVA Class of’ and then the year, but the school wanted to start this tradition of doing the mural. I’m so proud that I got to be the first one and I’m really honored that I got picked to do it.”
The mural, which is also being used as the profile and cover photos for the Belle Vernon Area High School Facebook page, features a number of events unique to this year’s senior class.
