Robert J. Pupich Jr. – White Oak

Robert J. Pupich Jr., 63, of White Oak, died on Thursday, May 14, 2020. He was born in McKeesport, on Oct. 24, 1956, and is the son of the late Robert J. Sr. and Dolores Brocard Pupich. Rob was a teacher and a lifelong coach, helping countless children throughout his long career. While teaching in the McKeesport Area School District, Rob also served as the boys junior varsity basketball coach for 25 years and still holds the record for being the winningest junior varsity basketball coach at McKeesport. He went on to coach the girls varsity basketball team at Thomas Jefferson High School before returning to McKeesport to assist with its girls basketball program. Rob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean Mangus Pupich; daughter, Ashley (Dickie) Markovitz of Irwin; son, Brett (Becky) Pupich of Johnstown; sister, Roberta (Ted) Mains of Penn Township; grandchildren, Zane and Zeke Markovitz; and many nieces and nephews. A family gathering was held Sunday, May 17, 2020, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177. There was a Mass of Christian burial Monday, May 18, 2020, at St. Angela Merici Church of Mary, Mother of God Parish in White Oak.  Burial followed.
