Liquor stores in the area will admit shoppers starting today

Mon Valley residents will be able to shop inside certain Wine and Good Spirits locations today.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced 155 stores in counties designated in the yellow phase of COVID-19 mitigation efforts will be permitted to resume limited in-store public access — abiding by social distancing requirements and CDC guidelines.

Last week, 77 stores began in-store access in counties in the yellow phase

Allegheny, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland entered into the yellow phase today.

While stores will still offer curbside pick-up, those who choose to shop inside must follow guidelines.

The PLCB has put a limit on the number of customers that can be inside of a store at one time. Most stores will be permitted to have 25 customers and employees inside, but smaller locations could have more restrictions to capacity.

The first hour a store is open will be reserved for customers considered high risk for contracting COVID-19, primarily those 65 and older.

Customers and employees will be required to wear masks, and signs throughout stores will assist with social distancing.

Similar to grocery stores, customers will have to follow one-way patterns to avoid cross traffic. Store hours will be adjusted to allow time for cleaning and restocking.

Before opening to the public, each location was professionally sanitized and plexiglass was installed at registers to provide a barrier between employees and customers.
