Belle Vernon Area’s Rachel Wobrak has found a home to continue playing basketball on the next level.

The Leopards senior announced she will continue her career at nearby Washington & Jefferson playing for head coach Jina DeRubbo.

“I’ve always been interested in Washington & Jefferson. It’s a beautiful campus and I’ve played in many AAU tournaments there throughout the years,” Wobrak said. “Being only 35 minutes from home is great because my parents can always come to my games. It’s always been important to me to have them with me. When I toured the campus, it truly felt like home. The coaches are awesome people and that helped seal the deal.”

Wobrak, the daughter of Douglas and Darla Wobrak of Rostraver Township, chose playing for the Presidents over Mount Union and Carlow.

“Mount Union was my second choice because it had everything I wanted, the major and a great athletics program,” Wobrak said. “The distance is what turned me away from Carlow. It’s in the NAIA and the only local team to play would be Point Park. I would have been playing in Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan. I knew it wouldn’t be a good fit for me.”
