John Gulick Jr. – Monongahela
John Gulick Jr., 87 of Monongahela, Victory Hill, died Thursday, May 7, 2020, in The Residence At Hilltop, Carroll Township. Born July 23, 1932, in Monon-gahela, he was the son of John Sr. and Elizabeth Rohaly Gulick. After his graduation from Monongahela High School in 1950, John enlisted and served four years in the U.S. Air Force in Germany during the Korean War. After returning home from the war, he began driving for the next 27 years at the former Zeffiro trucking company, then driving for the General Nutrition Center (GNC) until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Journey By Grace Church in Rostraver Township (formerly Free Methodist in Monongahela), where he was the coordinator of the monthly food bank and served as a trustee on the leadership team. He was also a volunteer for Gateway Hospice and the Meals on Wheels program. John loved the Steelers and was a season ticket holder since 1972. He was a member of both the Victory Hill Gun Club and Social Club. A longtime member, he was currently the chaplain and commander of the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. John was also a member of Carroll Township American Legion Post No. 949 and Monongahela American Legion Post No. 302. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, J. Edward and Cindy Gulick of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Thomas W. Gulick of Monongahela; five granddaughters, Regina, Danielle and Tori Gulick of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kayla and Michelle Gulick of Monongahela; and a great-grandson, Ace Gulick Lewis of Salt Lake City, Utah; and his “lady friend,” Marjorie Buralli of Monongahela. Preceding him in death were his wife, V. Joyce Gulick, who died Nov. 10, 2009; a brother, Leonard Gulick; and two sisters, Elaine Schroder and Elizabeth Diem. Due to COVID-19 private funeral restrictions, friends and family are invited to watch John’s funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2020, with the Rev. William Bailey officiating, by going to journeybygrace.org and clicking on “Johns Funeral tab.” A private interment will be held in Monongahela Cemetery.
