Gwendolyn A. Culp – North Charleroi

Gwendolyn A. Culp, 95, of North Charleroi, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2020, with her family by her side. Gwen was born on Feb. 1, 1925, in Mitcham, Surrey, England, daughter of the late William and Ellen Goad Gear. While living in England, she was employed by British Civil Service and volunteered as a “fire watcher” during air raids in World War II. In 1947, she married Ethan A. Culp in Charleroi and was married for 67 years. She was an active member of First Christian Church and was deaconess emeritus. Gwen was a volunteer at the Charleroi Food Bank for many years and enjoyed knitting, sewing and painting crafts. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Gwen is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Thomas) Griffith of Fallowfield, and Taryn (Robert) Grant of Fallowfield; two sisters, Joan (Dennis) Miles of Surrey, England, and Maureen Elton of London, England; grandchildren, Melanie Griffith, Michelle (Tom) Grias, Malinda Griffith, Christopher Grant, Chelsea (Randall) Risch; great-grandchildren, William (Tommy) and Alexis Grias; brother-in-law, Charles Culp; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ethan Allen “Bud” Culp; and sister, Ivy (Wilfred) Longland. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, services will be private for the immediate family only. Interment will occur at Lafayette Memorial Park. Arrangements were entrusted to SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Gwendolyn’s name to the Greater Washington County Food Bank, 909 National Pike West, Brownsville, PA 15417.
