Jannette Bruno Mele – New Eagle

Jannette Bruno Mele, 92, of New Eagle, died Thursday April 16, 2020, in her home. Born Sept. 18, 1927, in Reynoldsville, W.Va., she was the daughter of Pete and Mary Scotchell Bruno. She was a 1945 graduate of Victory High School in Clarksville, W.Va. After moving to Pennsylvania to live with her sister, Dolly, Jannette began working at the former J.C. Penny Department Store in Donora. After meeting and then marrying her late husband, Sam, she focused mainly on being a homemaker and raising their four children. She was a member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish (former St. Anthony Catholic Church) in Monongahela where she had belonged to their Altar Rosary Christian Mother Society. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Kevin Dunham of New Eagle, and Bernadette Holibaugh of Monongahela; two sons Sammy Mele Jr. of Texas and Ronnie Mele of New Eagle; six grandchildren  Michael J. (Savannah) Holibaugh, SSG (Ret.) Travis L. Holibaugh, Christina (Dennis) Fowler, Eric (Amanda) Mele, Shane Mele and Kerrie  Rose Dunham; six great-grandchildren, Aiden and Colton Fowler, Berlyn, Farrah Grace and Kash Holibaugh and Emilyn Mele; a daughter-in-law, Cheri and husband Bob Bartman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Samuel R. Mele, who died April 13, 2003; five sisters, Dolly Weir, Millie Tumbrey, Rose Moscari, Grace Annie and Irene Bordo; a brother, Frank Bruno; and her son-in-law, Gary Holibaugh. Due to COVID-19, a private family funeral will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, followed by entombment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.
