The California Area School District will be adding to its arsenal of technology and providing students with further resources to take online classes.

During a conference call meeting March 31, the California Area School District Foundation approved a $10,000 grant to the district for the purchase of new Chromebooks.

California Area Superintendent Michael Sears said he signed off on the purchase order for 42 Chromebooks Thursday.

Due to the high demand for the products, they are expected to be delivered around mid to late April, Sears added.

“We’ve been in the process of trying to build our inventory of Chromebooks over the last few years through the Ready to Learn grant, but we’re not where we need to be yet,” Sears said. “We need them and we’re trying to get as many Chromebooks as we can as soon as possible.”
