By obits

Lucille Marion Meucci passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early morning of Saturday, March 28, 2020. She was born to Harry Marion Strole and Grace Hilda Sutherland Strole in Lock Four, North Charleroi, on Dec. 6, 1928. Lucille lived most of her life in New Eagle. She enjoyed many friends and relatives in the area, attending Monongahela High School and graduating in secretarial studies from the Robert Morris Business School in Pittsburgh. She was immediately hired by the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D. C., where she worked for several years. She returned to New Eagle to marry the love of her life, Raymond Mario Meucci, on Oct. 6, 1950, and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage. Lucille worked as an executive secretary at Koppers Company in Pittsburgh until her first child was due, then later she typed engineering specifications and corporation correspondence for seven years for Raymond M. Meucci Inc., Consulting Engineers when Ray started the company in 1959. Lucille loved dancing, roller skating, ice skating and bowling. She was an avid reader, and she excelled at crossword puzzles. She and Ray enjoyed season tickets to the Pittsburgh Opera for many years, and she also enjoyed musical theater. An excellent bridge player, Lucille played while a member of the Mon Valley Country Club, and in small clubs with friends, she played bridge, Mahjong and 500. Lucille enjoyed travel, sewing, knitting and playing games with friends and family. She turned any gathering into a party, making special memories for her extended family. She was always ready to play a game, go shopping or help with fashion and accessories. She traveled extensively with her husband, to see new places and to visit family, and after his death, she enjoyed traveling with her friend Lois and with her family. As a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Monongahela, Lucille worked with the church women making and selling ravioli to raise funds, served on the ministry team and as a Bible school teacher and director. Her church small group was very important to her, and she grew through small group Bible studies and through the Walk to Emmaus experience and share group. Lucille is survived by her children, Raymond H. Meucci and his wife Joan of McMurray, Kristyn M. Jodon and her husband Mark of Houston, Texas, and Kimberly M. Carroll and her husband Chris of New Eagle. She is also survived by her nephew, Thomas Lorenzi and his wife Frou of Lake Charles, La.; and her niece, Suzanne Lorenzi Sala of Pittsburgh. Lucille was much loved by her grandchildren, grandniece and grandnephews, who remember her as amazing and fun loving, Michael (KD) Meucci, Bradley (Lindsay) Meucci, Mark (Ashley) Meucci, Gray (Elissa) Jodon, Christopher Carroll, Cole (Alexandra) Jodon, Travis Carroll, Amoray Carroll, Autumn Carroll, Daniel (Catherine) Lorenzi, Rachael (Chris) Richard, and Stephen (Alma) Sala. Lucille was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Gia, Mario, Antonia, Elliot, Mila and Mark Jr.; and three great-grandnieces, Elena Grace, Paige Joyce and Siena Della. Lucille loved much and was much loved. She remained in excellent health until the last few years of her life, surrounded by her family and Lois, cared for in comfort in her daughter’s home. Lucille Meucci’s family expresses appreciation for those who helped care for Lucille and for the support of many friends. Due to the coronavirus crisis, there will be no public services.
