Laura Hines – Fayette City

FAYETTE CITY

Laura Hines, of Fayette City, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, March 2 5 , 2020, at the age of 100. She was t h e daughter of the late Loe Rae and Martha Trew Harris and was born in Fayette City on Nov. 1, 1919. She lived most of her life in Fayette City and was a member of Fayette City Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She loved traveling, and among her favorite pastimes was crocheting. During World War II, she worked at Christy Park in McKeesport, making munitions for the war and later at the Corning Glass Factory in Charleroi. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Richard Kossol of Eugene, Ore., and Patricia Herrington, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, Kim (Wade) Miller of Kennesaw, Ga., Joel (Sumana) Kossol of Portland, Ore., Kristie (John) Zahn of Katy, Texas, and Jeanette (Kevin) Larsen of Eugene, Ore.; and 10 great- grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley C. Hines, on July 18, 2006; and a sister, Jane Moody, on Dec. 17, 2006.
