Formerly of Donora

Grace Theresa Delduca, neé Daittillio, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2020, in Ypsilanti, Mich., at the age of 97. Grace was born on Oct. 16, 1922, in Donora, the daughter of Francesco “Frank” Daittillio, from Casoli, Italy, and Pasqualina Fantone, whose parents were from Campobasso, Italy. She had fond memories of growing up in Donora with her family and a close-knit and diverse community of friends and neighbors. Grace worked at Melenyzer’s Furniture Store in Donora, where she met the love of her life, Joseph, and moved to West Newton after they were married. She made her home in West Newton, with Joe where they raised their family, and lived there for many years afterward. Grace enjoyed cooking, traveling to New England, particularly Cape Cod and the White Mountains, reading poetry, particularly that of Robert Frost, taking walks, following Pittsburgh sports teams, and most of all she loved visiting with her family and reminiscing about people and places growing up. She also loved becoming a grandmother at the age of 79, and was blessed with three grandchildren. Grace is survived by her sons, Michael and David; her grandsons, Benjamin and Daniel; a granddaughter, Gracie; her daughters-in-law, Margaret and Melissa; her sister, Geraldine; a sister-in-law, Rosemarie; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph; her father, Frank; her mother, Pasqualina; her brothers, Charles and Francis Jr.; her brother-in-law, Mark Evich; and her sister-in-law Patricia Patch Daittillio. A private funeral procession and chapel service will be conducted prior to interment at Mon Valley Memorial Park in Donora, Pa. A memorial mass and service celebrating Grace’s life will be held at a future date open to all family and friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L.
