John E. “Jack” Carroll Sr., 93, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020, at his home. Born Jan. 24, 1927 in Charleroi, he was the son of the late Thomas and Josephine Sac Carroll. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 70 years, Mr. Carroll was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon. Mr. Carroll was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport plant, where he was a superintendent of maintenance. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, served on the Rostraver Zoning and Hearing Board for over 40 years, was an avid hunter and enjoyed being outdoors. He is survived by a son, John E. Carroll Jr. of Rostraver Township; grandchildren, Lee and Carol King, GiGi and Joe Leckie, Jason King, John ‘JJ’ Carroll; and a great-granddaughter, Chelsey Leckie. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Cooper Carroll; a daughter, Linda Jo Carroll King Bonnucci; and brother, Thomas Carroll. A private funeral Mass will be held for the family due to the COVID-19 and state mandate. Funeral arrangements entrusted to PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
