Monongahela Valley Hospital received a much needed donation Friday from the Monessen School District.
Monessen Superintendent Dr. Leanne Spazak dropped off an SUV full of personal protective equipment and supplies for hospital staff, who are on the front lines protecting the community as COVID-19 continues to spread.
Spazak said as more positive cases pop up through the region, she realized health care workers would soon be facing a major problem — a lack of supplies, not only for patients, but also for themselves.
MVH President and CEO Lou Panza Jr. said the coronavirus is unlike anything the hospital has ever experienced.
“Never in our lifetime have we experienced a situation similar to the COVID-19 pandemic facing our nation today,” Panza said. “Our staff have been working tirelessly to provide the highest level of care to our community.”
