Georgia Jean Fodor Rush, 76, of Fayette City, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born May 10, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Katherine Blakney Fodor. A resident of Fayette City and Perryopolis for the past 38 years, Mrs. Rush was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and was involved in other various parish activities. She was also employed as a receptionist at Mon Valley Hospital Center for Children’s Rehabilitation. Georgia, AKA, “wielder of the wooden spoon,” loved all animals and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She was always visible in the stands and was an active part of their lives and forever cherished her time with them. She is survived by her four children, Georgia C. Rush of Pittsburgh, Francis J. Rush III and wife Erika of Fayette City, Nicolas C. and Mary Rush of Afton, Va., and Gabriella K. and Michael Sauritch of Fayette City; two grandsons, Anthony J. Sauritch and Harrison A. Sauritch; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Janice Fodor of Chicago, Ill.; and her beloved cats, Riley and Finnegan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Rush Jr.; her step-mother, Virginia Bennett; a son, Noah Rush; and a brother, John Fodor. A private funeral mass will be held for the family due to the COVID-19 and state mandate. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Georgia Jean Rush to Fix ‘Ur Cat, 18 W. Pike St., Canonsburg, PA 15317. A date and time for a public memorial service will be published at a later date.
