Tom Wolf’s Republican colleagues aren’t happy with the Democratic governor’s decision to order all “non-life sustaining businesses” in Pennsylvania to close.
In recent days, the governor encouraged owners of various types of businesses to voluntarily close to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, but he took bold action Thursday evening, ordering non-life-sustaining businesses to close their physical locations.
Enforcement actions against businesses that do not close was slated to begin at 12:01 a.m. today, but Wolf announced Friday that the time was extended to 8 a.m. Monday.
State House Republican leadership issued a statement Friday blasting the decision, saying the Wolf administration “set off a panic through the Commonwealth with its edict to shut down employers.”
