Letter from our managing editor: Office closed; coverage continues

By Mon Valley Independent

Dear readers,

During this unprecedented national emergency, the Mon Valley Independent stands committed to providing you with the most accurate, timely and comprehensive information on the coronavirus.

Since the outbreak started, we have been devoted to covering not only the national stories — but also the local ones that impact the daily lives of all of us living and working here in the Mon Valley.

Our team of journalists remain committed to keeping you informed about the steps being taken for public safety, cancellations/notices and all the other local news in our Valley communities.

In addition to our print publication, (Mondays through Saturdays), which can be delivered right to your doorstep, we also offer a 60-day, free subscription to our electronic version of the Mon Valley Independent.

You can access the free, 60-day e-edition on our website at www.monvalleyindependent.com. If you need assistance logging in, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 724-314-0030.

Like every organization and business, we are taking steps to ensure the health of our staff. During this time of crisis, our doors at our offices at 996-998 Donner Ave., will be closed to the general public, but we have staff available in our business office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for payments, circulation issues and general queries.

Our newsroom schedule will not change, but our reporters and photographers who go into the field will be taking every recommended precaution.

Reporting on matters of public importance is why we are here. Our staff members will remain prudent, but like always, we know that we must run toward the fires.

We are there for you, the reader.

We are documenting history, as it happens.

Keep tuned to the MVI via our print edition, website and Facebook social media page for breaking, local news stories and updates on the coronavirus and its impact on our communities.

Above all else, listen to the medical experts’ warnings and take every precaution to keep yourself and your loved ones safe and healthy. Together, we will get through this public health emergency.

Wishing you continued good health,

Stacy Wolford, Managing Editor
