George L. Saraco, 96, of Donora, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born in Monessen on Jan. 23, 1924. Serving with the United States Army for over 20 years, Mr. Saraco was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. George was a member of Finleyville American Legion Post No. 0613. George was retired from the maintenance department of the U.S. Bureau of Mines. In addition to his mother, Mary Hrisak Saraco, and his step-father, Samuel Vogan, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Karnis Saraco on July 1, 1992; and one brother, Robert Saraco. He is survived by one daughter, Georgianne Saraco (Dan McCann) of Carroll Township; and one sister, Rose Saraco of Charleroi. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at the Donora campus of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.
