Animal abuse charges cut to 8

A majority of the criminal charges filed this week in an animal abuse case have been withdrawn.
More than 1,300 charges were filed Tuesday against Christie Dee Harr, 41, of Monessen, who operates the nonprofit Animal Orphans Animal Rescue and Pet Sanctuary.
The charges have been trimmed to eight, including two felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals – torture and aggravated cruelty to animals – causing significant bodily injury or death.
She is also charged with misdemeanor counts of neglect of animals – sustenance/water, neglect of animals – shelter/protection, neglect of animals – shelter/protection and neglect of animals – pet care and three summary counts of neglect of animals – sustenance/watter, neglect of animals – shelter/protection, neglect of animals – shelter/protection and neglect of animals – pet care.
