Adorned in red awareness ribbons, bracelets and T-shirts, Zion Baptist Church parishioners, members of Mayor Michael Cherepko’s administration and the Partnership for Minority HIV/AIDS Prevention came together Saturday in recognition of the National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS and HIV.

The week of prayer is an annual national awareness campaign that mobilizes faith communities and highlights the contributions and impact congregations are making in areas of HIV prevention, testing, direct service, advocacy and community engagement.

PMHAP works with partners locally, throughout the United States and abroad to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. A red ribbon is a symbol of AIDS/HIV awareness.

As a partner in a global community, the organization promotes HIV prevention and complete access to medicine and care.
