Sometimes a tough loss can tend to stick with a team.
That was the case early on for the Ringgold hockey team, which suffered an overtime loss to Carrick in its regular-season finale last week and carried its struggles into Monday night’s PIHL Class B quarterfinal matchup with Wilmington.
Once the Rams got things going, though, there was no stopping them.
Ringgold fell behind 2-0 early, but did not allow another goal, dominating the final two periods en route to an 11-2 victory at the Rostraver Ice Garden.
The Rams (18-1) outshot the Greyhounds, 54-14, and got hat tricks from Brad Bujdos and Nathan Todd. Evan Eberlein had four assists and Justin Day added a goal and three helpers for Ringgold.
Wilmington’s early lead was not so much about what the Greyhounds (7-11) were doing, but what Ringgold was not doing.
