Cal U gets long-awaited playoff win

Two days after suffering an 82-71 loss to Gannon in its regular season finale, the Cal U men’s basketball team was determined to have the last laugh.
Now, they’ll be laughing their way into Indiana, Pa.
The fourth-seeded Vulcans took their first lead late in the first half and never trailed again, avenging their recent double-digit defeat with a 74-58 victory over the fifth-seeded Golden Knights in the first round of the PSAC Tournament Monday night at the Convocation Center.
Cal U (19-10), which will play in the quarterfinals for the first time since 2012 when it travels to face top-seeded IUP Wednesday, played with a chip on its shoulder.
The Vulcans were aiming to get revenge, but more importantly, they were trying to send a message.
“I had sort of a mean look on my face all day because I was just hearing different things their coach (Kelvin Jefferson) was saying to my team and his team,” said junior guard Brent Pegram, who scored 13 points in Monday’s win
