Ronald S. Godla – Monessen

Ronald S. Godla, 74, of Monessen, died Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born on July 3, 1945, in North Charleroi, the son of the late Stephen and Rose Seydor Godla. Ron was a 1963 graduate of Monessen High School and a 1967 graduate of Penn State University, where he received his degree in industrial engineering. He served his country from 1968 to 1969 in Mannheim, Germany, with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church, where he served as a lector. He was scoutmaster for Monessen Troop 1510 from 1993 to 1998, was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 954 and Monessen Elks 773, where he served as exalted ruler from 1976 to 1977. Ron enjoyed gardening and was an avid Penn State fan, attending and tailgating at football games. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia A. Lenio Godla; two sons, Daniel S. Godla of Pittsburgh and Brian S. Godla of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Dolores Yonek and Kathy Steffey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Godla Monios. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, and from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will be held beginning with a 9 a.m. blessing Thursday, March 5, in the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Interment will follow in St. Hyacinth Cemetery, Monessen. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
