Robert A. Hillman – Monongahela

Robert A. Hillman, 64, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020, in Select Specialty Hospital, McKeesport. Born July 21, 1955 in New Eagle, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Kathryn “Katie” Kepics Hillman. A 1974 graduate of Monongahela High School, Bob worked for many years as a field supervisor at the former Merit Contracting in Monongahela and he was a member of the UMWA Construction and the Carpenters Union. A standout football player and coach, for many years he coached the Monongahela Wildcat Midget Football program and then was an assistant coach for the Ringgold High School football team. During the 1990s he served on Monongahela city council and in his spare time enjoyed doing various woodworking projects. Surviving are his wife, Penny McCarty Hillman, who he married March 20, 1981; two sons, Shaun Hillman and fiancée Tyeasha Skaggs of Belle Vernon, and Corey and wife Tiffani Hillman of Carroll Township; two grandsons, Ryan and Brayden Hillman; a brother, Charles K. (Mary Ann) Hillman; and a sister, Dolores “Chickie” Bagan of Monongahela, along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a brother, John T. Hillman; and two sisters, Wanda Burnisky and Nancy Ihle. Friends will be received at the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday where a blessing service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2020, with Kevin Dominik officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
