Cal U hosting statewide Band Festival this weekend

California University of Pennsylvania will host a band festival this weekend.

Guest conductor Dennis Fisher will lead the school’s 73rd annual Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band Festival Saturday and Sunday.

Student musicians from 21 college and university band programs across the state will come to Cal U to rehearse and perform with Fisher, wind band director and professor emeritus at the University of North Texas. 

He has conducted extensively and lectured in 32 states, along with international appearances in Thailand, Japan, China, Great Britain, Scandinavia, Canada, Greece, Brazil, Cuba and Russia.

The event culminates in a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Steele Hall Main Stage Theatre.
