The White Oak Police Department, in partnership with Mayor Ina Jean Marton, will hold two of its annual community outreach programs again this year.

Marton announced at last week’s council meeting that borough police officers plan to hold the Tips for Cops event, while the Cops and Kids Basketball Program will also return this spring.

Tips for Cops

The Tips for Cops program, created eight years ago by White Oak police Sgt. Jessica Hetherington and her family, aims to ensure that residents of White Oak and Versailles who utilize Sampson’s Mills Church’s Cupboard Stretchers Food Pantry have enough to eat.

During Tips for Cops, police officers from White Oak, Versailles and several surrounding police departments, as well as other area first responders and elected officials, wait tables to earn tips. All the proceeds will be donated to Cupboard Stretchers, which is located on Lincoln Way.
