Grants obtained by Madonna Catholic Regional School are aimed toward improving safety, upgrading technology, introducing students to the Farm to Table concept and promoting sportsmanship.

School principal Kathy Miller said the school has received a $10,000 safe school grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, $10,000 for technology from the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, supplies and technical assistance from Grow Mon Valley for student gardening and a $250 mini grant from the Mon Valley Alliance to purchase large-size games for use during indoor recess sessions.

Miller said the PDE grant will be used to install additional security cameras, a networked intercom and a security button entrance system prior to the start of the 2020-21 school year.

The technology grant from the First Slovak Ladies Association will be used to purchase Chromebooks so each student has access to technology.
