Monongahela residents were given an update on the city’s proposed renovations as the Monongahela Main Street Program held its annual meeting Tuesday night.
Held at First United Methodist Church and chaired by Executive Director Terry Necciai, the program was attended by state Rep. Bud Cook, R-West Pike Run Township, Monongahela Mayor Greg Garry and state Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Carroll Township.
The event included a brief history of the program, nearing its fifth year of existence, as well as upcoming improvements the group hopes to see in the coming months and years.
“A lot of our downtown areas got very little attention during the Great Depression and World War II,” Necciai said. “After that, there was a lot of expansion to the suburbs. Most towns in the ’60s and ’70s didn’t have much going on.”
