Three students from Mon Valley Career & Technology Center have been charged after allegedly working together to create a fake social media account to bully another student with racist, homophobic remarks.
Levi Alan Thorpe, 18, of Cemetery Road, Charleroi, was charged Tuesday with cyber harassment of a child – seriously disparaging statements and conspiracy – cyber harassment of a child.
An affidavit of probable cause written by Charleroi Regional Police Officer David Kimball states that two 17-year-old males who have not been identified “were charged through the juvenile court system.”
On Feb. 11, MVCTC Principal Jason Lucia contacted Kimball to report that three 17-year-old students and an 18-year-old student, later identified as Thorpe, worked together to create a fraudulent Instagram account on which they pretended to be another 17-year-old MVCTC student, who has not been identified.
