Down to the final buzzer, a game that McKeesport trailed by double-digits throughout, ended in thrilling but heartbreaking fashion.

The No. 5 Tigers bowed out of the opening round of the WPIAL 5A playoffs, upended by the last team into the bracket, West Allegheny, 65-62 at North Allegheny High School.

West Allegheny led 62-51 before a 9-0 run from McKeesport that had the Tigers within two. With 1:12 remaining, Tigers senior Deamontae Diggs stole the ball and raced in for the slam dunk to put McKeesport within a grasp of the lead for the first time in the game.

McKeesport fouled and West Allegheny knocked in a free throw to extend the lead to three.
