Offensive struggles lead to Monessen’s first-round exit

The Monessen boys basketball team never quite found its rhythm in a rock fight of a basketball game Saturday against Union.
The Scotties ended the Greyhounds’ season with a 46-41 defeat in the first round of the WPIAL Class A playoffs at North Hills.
Monessen got off to a good enough start, taking a 7-2 lead, before an 11-2 run by Union put the Scotties up 13-9 after the first.
Offensively, Monessen head coach Dan Bosnic said especially in the early going, the Hounds were able to move the ball into the areas they wanted to — the post and the high-post — isolating some guys to create opportunities.
