After teaching himself the blacksmithing trade, Andrew Takach is opening his workshop to other Mon Valley residents who might be interested.
Takach, a West Newton resident who formerly lived in Glassport, won a competition on the “Forged in Fire” TV show in 2017.
The series pits four blacksmiths against each other in a competition to create war-type weaponry.
After several rounds of elimination to prove their weapons can stand tests of strength and sharpness, Takach, who works a full-time job outside of his trade, won the $10,000 prize and the title of “Forged in Fire” champion.
