Hepple new municipal chief in Monessen

Monessen council voted this week to appoint a new fire chief and hire a new full-time police officer.
Delmar Hepple was appointed as municipal fire chief, having been nominated by Mayor Matt Shorraw and unanimously approved by council.
It’s a familiar role for Hepple who was municipal chief from 2011 to 2014 under former mayor Mary Jo Smith.
The municipal chief oversees both city departments — Monessen Hilltop and Monessen No. 1.
Chris Rhome, who was appointed by former mayor Lou Mavrakis, served as municipal fire chief from March 2014 until he submitted his resignation last month.
