Flood-prone Rostraver homes to come down

More homes will soon be torn down in Elks Place.

Heavy flooding has plagued the area for more than a decade and township supervisors have been working to fix the problem for just as long.

Flood waters tore through the area two years ago, leaving homeowners displaced and at a loss, later causing supervisors to cancel a Community Development Block Grant previously received for a 2016 Stormwater Facilities Project.

Officials made the move after hold-ups with the Department of Environmental Protection.

But problem-solving in the Redstone area of Rostraver Township began long before 2018.
