Wilma “Billie” Palfrey Whitelaw, 92, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2020. A daughter of the late William and Olive Wells Palfrey, she was born in Warren, Ohio, on Jan. 6, 1928. Wilma lived most of her adult life in Belle Vernon, was a member of First Christian Church of Belle Vernon and the Order of the Eastern Star and retired from the former Bell of Pennsylvania in 1955 after nine years as a telephone operator. Survivors include her husband, Charles Robert Whitelaw, whom she married in 1948; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Don Michael of Perryopolis; three sisters, Lillian Mort of Bayonet Point, Fla., Loretta Sterner of Rostraver Township and Sherry Strenske of Belle Vernon; three brothers, Robert Palfrey of Orlando, Fla., Richard Palfrey of Dunnellon, Fla., and James Palfrey of Rostraver; one grandchild, Amber Michael; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Louis Davies, all of Fayette City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lorraine Dale Palfrey on Oct. 24, 2016. There will be no visitation or funeral services.
