Irene June Baker – Belle Vernon

Irene June Baker, 83, of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, at Mon Valley Care Center, with her loving family at her side. She was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Tidioute, Pa., daughter of Michael Valko and Anna Glotz Valko. She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, graduate of Monessen High School Class of 1955 and retired from Kmart in Belle Vernon. Irene was an avid bingo player and enjoyed trips to the casino. The family would like to Thank ViaQuest Hospice and Home Care and the staff of Mon Valley Care Center for Irene’s exceptional and compassionate care. She is survived by her children: son, Jeffrey Baker and wife Linda of Fairhope, son, Michael Baker of Lynnwood, and daughter, Paula Baker of Belle Vernon; grandson, Jonathan Baker; granddaughter, Gina Baker; brother, Henry Valko and wife Carol of Fairhope; sister, Roseann Valko of West Newton; brother-in-law, James Baker; sisters-in-law, Pauline Baker, Joan Valko and Arlene Valko; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Baker Jr. on March 3, 2012; three brothers, George, Leonard and Edward Valko; and sister, Agnes Mason. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City. www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, in the funeral home with the Rev. Father Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon.
