When speaking with college coaches about Dan Deabner, Thomas Jefferson head football coach Bill Cherpak mentions one thing more than anything else.
“They’re getting a winner,” Cherpak said of the senior wide receiver. “He knows how to win; he’s been on winning teams, in a winning program and he has that mentality. He’s been so successful and has done so many things.”
Over the last four years at TJ, Deabner has established himself as a fixture for the Jaguars on both sides of the ball.
He’s compiled his share of individual accolades, including an all-state selection this past season, and has done his part to help the team succeed, winning three WPIAL championships and a state title during his illustrious high school career.
Deabner’s time in a TJ uniform might now be a thing of the past, and it’s one he can look back on fondly, but the latest chapter of his football career has yet to even begin.
