Rayna Andrews entered Thursday night’s section finale 32 points shy of 1,000 in her career at Serra Catholic.

She knew it was going to take a big night to make history, but Andrews wasn’t going to be denied.

The senior standout poured in a career-high 33 points and reached the 1,000-point mark as Serra Catholic clinched the Section 2-2A title outright with a 70-32 win over Jeannette in front of a packed house on senior night.

Andrews is the 16th player in program history to score over 1,000 career points and the first since Katie Sieg in 2015.

“I wanted it really bad,” said Andrews, who added 15 rebounds for the double-double. “I just wasn’t going to stop until I got it, especially with everyone here. I’ve wanted this since freshman year and to get it my senior year on my senior night, it really means everything.

“The section title was my number one goal and (getting 1,000 points) is just a cherry on top of it. I’m so happy for our team.”
