Charleroi was held to a season-low point total in a 51-39 Section 4-3A loss to McGuffey that put an end to the Cougars’ four-game winning streak Tuesday night.

With a share of the section at stake, Charleroi (15-6, 10-2) went into halftime trailing by six before being outscored, 26-20, in the second half.

Will Wagner led the Cougars with 22 points, while Joey Caruso added 10, scoring eight in the first quarter. Legend Davis (4) and Zach Usher (3) combined for the team’s other seven points.

“They pressured our outside shooters pretty well and we had a tough time getting Caruso a good open look,” Charleroi coach Bill Wiltz said. “We had a tough time getting Usher free and Will made some points going to the hole, but on the perimeter, they did a real nice job. We really struggled to get those guys open.”
