John Rach – Somerset, Pa.

John A. Rach, 85, formerly of Charleroi, passed away on Feb. 4, 2020, at his home in Somerset, Pa. John was born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 19, 1934, the son of the late Ferdinand and Madeline Klaus Rach. After high school John enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country honorably on the USS Forrestal. Following his time in the Navy, John owned several small businesses, he is most known for owning Rach’s (Rox) Furniture store in Charleroi. Following his retirement John enjoyed spending time at the Jager and Friends Dog Park in Somerset, skiing, gardening, camping, building decks and he enjoyed the love of animals. John is survived by his wife, Judith Albright Rach; two sisters, Madeline Rach Fielding of Fla., and Mary Rach of Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ferdinand, Leo and Joel Rach. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME, 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Charleroi (formerly Mary, Mother of the Church), Seventh Street and Washington Avenue, Charleroi.
