Carroll Township supervisors appointed Ken Hillman to fill the vacancy left open with the Jan. 25 death of Supervisor James “Don” Harrison.

Board Chairman Thomas Rapp said the township received letters from several qualified candidates, but opted for Hillman because of his experience.

“Ken Hillman has been on the Carroll Township Sewage Board and worked for more than two years negotiating the sewage contract between the township and the city of Monongahela,” Rapp said.  “He is an engineer. I feel his profession and experience will be an asset to our board.”

Carroll Township police Chief Paul Brand said the department will be ramping up traffic patrols with the start of spring. He asked drivers to follow the traffic laws and be especially aware of bus stops and school bus crossings.
