Helen Panzo, 97, of Rostraver Township passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at her home. She was born in Monessen, a daughter of the late John and Mary Lakotas Desko. Helen was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church of Monessen and the Church’s Altar Guild. She worked as a secretary for the practice of Dr. Malcolm Weiss for many years prior to her retirement. Surviving are her children, Gregory and wife April Panzo of Eustis, Fla., Richard and wife Trina Panzo of Columbus Ohio, Mark and wife Judy Panzo of Washington Pa., and Mary Beth and husband James Kissler of Rostraver Township; loving niece and nephew, Gerri Trembolak, and Michael Desko; grandchildren, Jennifer, Gregory, Katie, Michael, Matt, Nick, John, Natalie, Luke, Sophia, Elizabeth, Brooke, Melissa, Lauren, Julianne and Paul; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Miles, Preston and Jack. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Panzo; her sisters, Julia and Margaret; and brothers, John, Michael and George. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020. A parish Rosary will begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the funeral home. Panachida services will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, followed by Divine Liturgy at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church of Monessen with Father Stephen Wahal officiating.
