Bella Skobel leading the charge for playoff-bound Cougars

A year ago, Bill Wagner kicked off his Charleroi girls basketball coaching career with a lackluster season.

The Cougars managed only two wins in Section 2-3A.

This year, the story has been different.

Charleroi (12-7, 8-4) has two section contests remaining and the Cougars are on a charted course to the WPIAL playoffs.

There are five reasons for the success Wagner’s Cougars are experiencing so far this season.

“We were young last year and this season I had all five of my starters back,” Wagner said. “That experience is showing. I thought we’d be better than last season, but I think we are really over-achieving this season. But that definitely is not stopping me from pushing them to make the playoffs.”
