‘Unselfish’ Leopards hold on to beat South Park

Belle Vernon Area’s girls basketball team is on a five-game winning streak heading into arguably its two biggest games of the season.
And while Leopards head coach Ronnie Drennen is pleased with his team’s performances over the last week, he’s looking for more consistency.
BVA had chances to put visiting South Park away Tuesday, but the Eagles hung around before the Leopards ended up holding on for a 54-50 win in a non-section contest.
“Defensively, we need to be more consistent. We weren’t communicating very well. Our rotations weren’t crisp and we weren’t switching, which left girls wide open,” Drennen said. “But that’s a sign of a young team. We’ll get better and there’s a lot I was pleased with tonight.”
