Two teams on fire in Section 4-3A met Tuesday night in Charleroi as the Cougars played Southmoreland. Charleroi was putting an eight-game section win streak on the line, while the Scotties had won six consecutive contests.
As hot as the two teams have been, both came out ice cold; however, only the Cougars heated up.
Charleroi captured its ninth win in its last 10 games and kept a nose ahead of Washington in the section standings with a 57-47 win over Southmoreland.
Senior Legend Davis led the way for the Cougars (14-5, 9-1), finishing with a game-high 20 points. He also snagged eight rebounds and swatted three shots.
“He’s been our key the last couple of games,” said Charleroi coach Bill Wiltz. “Last game, he shot (around) 70 percent and I’m sure he was close to that again today. What I have been impressed with him has been the three’s. Up to this year, the three has not been part of his repertoire. He’s starting to knock those down, which makes it very easy for us to keep it going.”
