Funeral services were held for Christopher M. DiBasilio, 54, of Monongahela (Victory Hill) who died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital after a brief illness. Born Dec. 25, 1965, at the former Brownsville Hospital, he was the son of Frank R. “Babe” and Marie D. Horvat DiBasilio of Hazelkirk. Chris graduated in 1984 from the former Mon-Valley Catholic High School and later attended the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute. He was currently working at Interstate Paper Company in Roscoe and had previously worked at Ductmate Industries in Monongahela for 20 years. Catholic by faith, he was an athlete in his youth, playing both baseball and football, and he enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. Chris had a huge heart and was very protective of those closest to him. He was very close to his family and his family meant everything to him. Surviving are his brother and best friend, Frank (and wife Ivy) DiBasilio of Imperial; sister and best friend, Theresa (and husband Daniel) Plauchak, Esquire of Monongahela; aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his brother, Ronald DiBasilio, who died in 2004. Interment was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.
