Service to 55 customers was fully restored Monday night after a water main break in a section of Elizabeth Township along Route 48.

Pennsylvania American Water Company spokeswoman Heather DuBose announced the restoration in an email.

“We had a break on a 6-inch pipe on Route 48 at Hillview Drive,” DuBose said.

Jim Chabalie, public information officer for Central Volunteer Fire Department in Elizabeth Township, said the department was dispatched to a structure fire in that area at 2:51 p.m., but lost water pressure shortly after connecting to a hydrant.

“When we charged the hydrant, it broke the water line,” Chabalie said. “It’s not uncommon when you open a hydrant to have that happen, especially with older lines.”
