Shorthanded Warriors throttled by Titans

Now on the outside looking in when it comes to a potential playoff berth, Elizabeth Forward girls basketball head coach Krystal Gibbs said she’ll find out a lot about her team in the coming days.

The Warriors were down two players and dressed only eight in their critical Section 3-4A matchup with visiting West Mifflin, and it was the Titans avenging an early season loss to EF with a 52-29 win on the Warriors’ floor.

With the win, the Titans have a firm grasp of third place in the standings as the Warriors fell to fifth.

Elizabeth Forward played without freshman Joselyn Dawson and sophomore Bailie Brinson. Dawson was in a walking boot on her left foot and Gibbs said Brinson has an ankle injury, despite shooting around a bit during warmups.

“Yeah, being down two players really hurt us,” Gibbs said. “But the lack of heart really hurts us.

“When I say that I mean I think we could have played with more hustle and aggression. This was a big game for us.”
