Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Wavrek – Monongahela

Elizabeth “Betty” Wavrek, 98, of Monongahela, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, in the TLC Adult Care Center, West Newton. She was born Dec. 5, 1921, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Kovach Savadeck. Betty was formerly employed at Corning Glass in Charleroi. She enjoyed taking care of her home, cooking and loved her sweets. While a resident of TLC Adult Care Center, she loved participating in crafts and singing. She is survived by her son, Ronald Wavrek and wife Roberta of Monessen; two granddaughters, Hilary Totin and husband Derek of Castle Shannon, and Monica Burgman and husband Josh of Palm Coast, Florida; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wavrek who died Nov. 3, 2003; brother, Michael Savadeck; and a sister, Mary Kurilko. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, with the Rev. Mark Woomer officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
