Charlotte Heyward, the mother of Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward, said her family understands that men’s suits are expensive, which is why they are expanding their Craig’s Closet program into McKeesport.
A solid date hasn’t been decided for when the program will open inside The Tube City Center (former Daily News building), but Charlotte expects the McKeesport branch of Craig’s Closet to be operational in a few weeks.
The program, created by the The Heyward House, is named in honor of Cam’s late father, former NFL football player Craig “Ironhead” Heyward.
Charlotte said Craig’s Closet, which already has a branch operating in Pittsburgh’s East End, provides young men from the Pittsburgh area who are in high school or heading to college with free dress clothes that can be worn to prom, job interviews, internships, banquets and more.
The Heyward House — also known as the Cameron Heyward Foundation — is a charitable foundation started in 2015 by Cam Heyward. The foundation is “dedicated to making an imprint on the lives of youths and their communities.”
